The genesis of The Oobie Ootchie Trio is shrouded in mystery as shown in this excerpt from the highly recommended work, "Is that An Ootchie In Your Pocket?" The Rise of the Oobies - A Visual Documentary by Sister Ballista and Sister Mary Bentadictus.

FAME
The extent of the Oobie Ootchie Trio's fame was revealed to Mick Cavanagh, who tested the validity of their success and worldwide recognition on numerous occasions.
Each and every time he was stunned to find that not only were the boys recognised by every person they came in contact with, they were able to address everyone they met by name, such being the broad memories and attention to detail they demanded of themselves.

Having placed 10 songs in the Top 40 Hit Songs of The 70's, the Oobies are far and away the most famous group of entertainers in living memory. Their legendary series of a capella concerts which have recently been released as the "Nundle To Paris 1976 Concert Tour" is still regarded as the benchmark whereby a capella groups the world over are judged.

The Oobie Ootchie Trio may well have achieved fame and success, based on their talent and sheer hard gritty determination to make it in a tough world, but to many they are regarded as more than human for their selfless work in freeing millions from the yoke of slavery and poverty.
"We know what it's like to be raised by dingoes." says Vas Deferens, "so we naturally felt a desire to help those others who may have been raised by wild animals. There were about seven of them altogether, but we had so much money left over from the profits from the dam building project in Mumbai, India, we thought it only fitting we should raise an army and free the people of Uganda, so that they too could finally hear the sounds of the Oobies."

People have often asked about the origin of the name "Oobie Ootchie Trio". "What is an 'Oobie'?, they ask, and "What is an 'Ootchie'?".
